So much joy and personal satisfaction comes from knowing that you have helped to create the magic and the laughter. We want you to be a part of this festival. In truth, we need you!

Please look over the list of volunteer positions below and let us know how you would like to help. Or, if you have an idea that we haven't thought of, we are most anxious to hear it.

Out-of-Towners

 

• Neighborhood Development Assistants —

• Identify, from among your friends and neighbors, people that you believe would enjoy being supporters of the Neil Simon Festival. Invite them to a dinner party or other gathering. Contact us in advance so that we can arrange entertainment from among our company of actors. Ideally, we would want at least 10 potential supporters at the gathering to make it worth our while in sending the performers. However, we are open to your persuasions if you feel that the potential relationship with the people you are inviting is worth the effort. Contact us at 435-327-8673 -or- development@simonfest.org

• Neighborhood Marketing Assistants —

• Identify stores or other public buildings (i.e. librarys) where it would be appropriate to put up brochures. Let us know how many brochure holders and brochures you think you will need and we will send them to you. Please be sure to get permission before placing the brochures.

• Talk with travel clubs, service clubs, churches or synagogues, or any other organizations that you are affiliated with or know about and make them aware of our group discounts. We may be able to help you in organizing lodging and transportation.

• You may have friends in the media that don't yet know about us. Invite them to a show, give them a brochure, point them to the website, tell them how good the shows are. Invite them to contact us for more information.

• Make the commitment, for a 10-day period, to tell someone new about the Neil Simon Festival and to give them a brochure.

Locals

 

• Mailing Assistants —

• We only do 2 or 3 mailings a year, but when we do, we certainly would love your help in stuffing and sealing envelopes.

• Poster & Brochure distributors —

• Distributing posters and brochures all around town can be a daunting job for just one or two people, but with your help we can stay on top of it.

• Wardrobe Assistants —

• Several positions are needed: If you have sewing skills, our costume designers may be able to use you in our pre-season design period. During the run of the shows, we need help with costume maintenance, i.e. sewing on buttons, fixing tears, etc. We also need help with laundry and ironing so that the costumes are ready for our actors before each performance.

• Set Construction assistants —

• We will need carpenters and painters during May and in the first two weeks of July to get the sets built and painted. Other crafts skills may be needed, such as upholstery or woodworking.

• Properties Assistants —

• Our properties designer will need help in locating sundary props and pieces of furniture to meet the needs of the productions. Your knowledge of who may have what will be invaluable.

• Ushers —

• You could be our ambassador to arriving patrons by greeting them with a smile, providing them with information about our pre-show discussions, concessions, and restrooms, helping them to their seats, and helping to solve any disturbance or emergency.

• Concessions Manager or Assistants —

• We offer concessions as a service to our patrons. We hope to personalize our offierings a little more in the coming years by finding or creating products that fit in thematically with our festival. We are looking for someone to take on the management of concessions for the upcoming season, as well as 3 or 4 assistants.
