About Us
In many ways Neil Simon is a modern Shakespeare. His thirty-eight plays have helped us laugh at ourselves for decades. And there will be more! Mr. Simon is currently developing two new works. The themes of his plays are universal and four-hundred years from now Americans will still be producing, studying, and laughing at his works. Here is your chance to be a part of the very first Neil Simon Festival -- and what better place than Cedar City, Utah -- the City of Festivals. The Heritage Theater serves as the perfect venue for Mr. Simon's plays which celebrate, with unerring humor, the American experience.
Mission Statement
The Neil Simon Festival provides accessible, entertaining theatrical experiences that excite the imagination and nourish a lifelong passion for the theatre. We work to preserve and honor the works of playwright Neil Simon and his contemporaries as well as foster the development of new American plays that follow the Simon tradition of character-driven plots and comic introspection into the American experience.
This mission statement is supported by the following objectives:
To offer community service through educational outreach programs, joint fundraisers, and so forth,
To keep theatre artists and the Southern Utah community at the center of the work we do,
To be a major contributor and leader to the national theatre community while ever including and encouraging
the contributions of local theatre artists,
To engage audiences of diverse ages, cultures and economic backgrounds,
To create world-class theatrical experiences while maximizing and responsibly managing available resources.
